BCCF Scholarship Applications due April 1: The Bull City Community Foundation's scholarship program was established in 2001 to assist both traditional and non-traditional students that had an Alton connection. The first scholarships of $100 each were awarded in 2002 to Osborne High School seniors Lacey Poore, who attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, and Paul Roach, who attended North Central Kansas Technical College in Hays. Since then, scholarships totaling approximately $6,150 have been awarded.
Scholarships were funded in various ways over the years. Since 2017, BCCF has sold $200 meat bundle raffle tickets at the Alton Summer Jubilee to benefit their scholarship program. Four high school seniors were each awarded $200 in May 2023, with their scholarship funds being paid out to their elective schools after they had enrolled for a second semester.
Reminder: BCCF scholarships were established for both traditional and non-traditional students of all ages. Application forms are available at Osborne High School or by contacting Cindy Poore at 785-984-8035. Anyone wishing to support BCCF's scholarship program can send a tax-deductible, scholarship designated donation to BCCFPO Box 62., Alton, KS 67623.
